Now 60 and flush with cash, Peterson Cos. is growing and ready to buy

JUNE 2, 2025 l WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL – When Peterson Cos. turned 50 in 2015, we sat down with the developer’s founder, the late Milt Peterson, to learn how the company grew out of his first acquisition of a small Vienna subdivision in 1965. Now, as the company turns 60, we sat down again, this time with Milt’s son Jon Peterson, who became CEO in 2018 when Milt stepped down, and the recently hired President Daniel McCahan, to hear about how the firm has changed in the intervening decade, most of it under Jon’s stewardship.
