Daniel McCahan Named President of Peterson Companies

PETERSON COMPANIES Aug. 28, 2024 – Peterson Companies, one of the largest privately-owned real estate development companies in the Washington, D.C. region, is pleased to announce that Daniel McCahan has been named the company’s president, effective September 9, 2024. McCahan will serve as a key member of the company’s senior leadership team. As president, McCahan will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s multi-product commercial real estate portfolio. Jon Peterson will remain CEO of Peterson Companies.

McCahan will join Peterson Companies after 13 years with Madison Marquette, most recently serving as chief operating officer. There, he was responsible for providing oversight for the company’s corporate support functions, integrated services platform, investment management and portfolio goals. Prior to his tenure at Madison Marquette, McCahan held executive positions at Archstone and Urban Atlantic. Some of McCahan’s notable project contributions include The Wharf, CityCenterDC, Wisconsin Place in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Henson Ridge, a major residential redevelopment in Washington, D.C.

McCahan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He resides in Washington, D.C.
