peterson family
foundation

Peterson Companies founder Milt Peterson and his wife Carolyn, along with their family, share a fundamental belief that to be successful, they must be fair, honest, and always strive to support the communities in which they live and do business. This belief led to the founding of the Peterson Family Foundation in 1997. To date, the foundation has directly contributed and helped raise millions of dollars for several diverse organizations throughout the Washington, D.C. region:

  • Northern Virginia Family Services
  • Gleaning for the World
  • Life with Cancer
  • Youth for Tomorrow
  • George Mason University
  • Middlebury College
  • St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School
  • Flint Hill School
  • Teach for America
  • The United Methodist Church

Peterson Companies has been consistently recognized with the Washington Business Journal’s top award for giving among mid-size companies.

a team effort

Peterson Companies is proud of the diverse and impactful ways in which our employees engage with the communities we serve. Annually, more than half of our team members volunteer their time or donate to local causes. From helping to rebuild homes and running in community races, to scooping ice cream at fundraising events and packing produce, our employees enthusiastically serve where there is a need. These collective efforts embody our corporate values and make a tangible impact in our region.
