Peterson Companies founder Milt Peterson and his wife Carolyn, along with their family, share a fundamental belief that to be successful, they must be fair, honest, and always strive to support the communities in which they live and do business. This belief led to the founding of the Peterson Family Foundation in 1997. To date, the foundation has directly contributed and helped raise millions of dollars for several diverse organizations throughout the Washington, D.C. region:

As real estate professionals, we are committed to serving as responsible stewards of the land that surrounds us. We believe not only in enriching our region today, but in improving conditions for the future. That’s why we approach every project with a focus on sustainability, corporate responsibility, and philanthropy. We’re proud to have built the first LEED Gold building in Virginia. Looking to the future, we are actively pursuing carbon-neutral operations, continuing to install EV charging stations at new and existing properties, investing in native species landscaping, and striving to meet one or more sustainable designations at each property we develop. We’ve furthered our positive environmental impact by investing in wetlands mitigation and stream restoration projects. Our team volunteers hundreds of hours annually to local nonprofits and community organizations, and we are a primary partner with the Potomac Riverkeeper Network in their effort to restore 50 million native freshwater mussels to the Potomac River by 2030. To date, Peterson Companies has provided hundreds of acres of land for schools, parks, and athletic fields, and enhanced local infrastructure to improve the quality of life.
