Sweet deal: Governor confirms chocolate manufacturing facility coming to Frederick County
THE WINCHESTER STAR -Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Friday that Clasen Quality Chocolate Inc. will invest $230 million to construct a new manufacturing facility in Frederick County, creating 250 new jobs.
It will be built in stages, with a final completion date expected in late 2030, according to Frederick County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Patrick Barker.
Earlier this week, The Winchester Star reported that Clasen Quality Chocolate had purchased 107 acres in Valley Innovation Park at 831 Shady Elm Road for approximately $38 million. Youngkin’s announcement confirmed that this will be the site of Clasen’s fifth production facility.
