Garry L. Witt is Senior Vice President & Senior Counsel for The Peterson Companies and has been with Peterson since 1999. In his position, Garry is primarily responsible for overseeing and directing the legal affairs of the Company in connection with Peterson’s self-storage, retail and mixed-use projects. Prior to joining Peterson, Garry was General Counsel for The Goodman Company, located in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he was instrumental in navigating the approval and development process of the first Neiman Marcus Resort Concept Store and the expansion and renovation of The Esplanade, Goodman’s upscale Worth Avenue project. In addition, Garry previously served as Senior Development Counsel with Melvin Simon & Associates headquartered in Indianapolis where he reported to and was mentored by Simon’s General Counsel.
Garry is a seasoned real estate professional who is adept in proposing solutions and crafting project documentation which enhances and maximizes value and provides the Company with flexibility to address changes in market conditions and has successfully negotiated deals valued in excess of one billion dollars. Garry received his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from DePauw University.
FUN FACT: Garry was raised on a Black Angus Cattle Farm in Southern Indiana, exhibited hogs at the County Fair and will always consider himself “a Hoosier”.
