Fairfax County approves Peterson’s MetroWest apartment plan by Vienna Metro
October 13, 2026 I Washington Business Journal – The Peterson Cos. has the green light to advance the first non-age restricted rental apartments at the long-planned MetroWest development near the Vienna Metro station.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved the Fairfax developer’s amended proffers and conceptual development plan, paving the way for a 269-unit multifamily building, dubbed Building 18 for now. It will include ground-floor retail, a 10,000-square-foot childcare center for up to 150 children, a private playground and a private courtyard. Of the 269 units, 27 will be affordable dwelling units.
“This is an important step in realizing the long-planned vision for MetroWest and the delivery of the long-planned Building 18, which was approved for this block more than 20 years ago,” Andrew Painter of Walsh Colucci Lubeley and Walsh, the applicant’s land use attorney, said at the meeting.
