William E. Peterson

Chairman of the Investment Board

William E. “Rick” Peterson serves as the Chairman of the Investment Board which oversees all non-real estate assets of Peterson Companies.  The Peterson family owns financial securities, Private Equity positions and multiple lines of business outside of its real estate interests. Under the supervision of Rick and the Investment Board, these assets are managed as a single unified portfolio, in concert with the family’s real estate holdings.

During the mid-1990s, Rick was an instrumental part of a determined group of professionals within Peterson Companies who undertook a multi-year effort to dramatically upgrade the professionalism and pride within the accounting, finance and tax departments of the company.

Rick’s career at Peterson Companies spans 25 years including roles as financial analyst, Residential Asst. Project Manager, eight years as CFO and six years as Sr. V.P. of Asset Management overseeing the companies’ 7,000,000 square foot portfolio of Income Producing Properties.  Over the years, Rick has been heavily involved in the family’s estate planning, and the management of the company’s diversified portfolio of non-real estate assets.  As a result, from 2009 to 2015, as part of Peterson Companies, Rick co-founded and nurtured a biotech start-up venture (Vizuri Health Sciences Co.) which has diversified the companies’ business activities into the Health Care space. Vizuri “provides Innovative, Natural, Cost-effective health care alternatives that allow Baby Boomers to age gracefully.”  The company has multiple products entering the OTC consumer products marketplace and has recently introduced its first prescription drug product in 2018.

Rick served on the Board of Cardinal Bank for 12 years, and has been an active board member of many non-profit groups locally and around the world including Gleaning for the World (Chairman), The Methodist Church, The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, The Town of Clifton, Virginia, and others.

Rick received a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and an MBA in Real Estate Finance.
