Boutique Retailers Find Success, Support at National Harbor

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., November 15, 2011 – National Harbor, the 300-acre waterfront destination located on the banks of the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, Md., today announced over 12,000 square feet of new retailers and restaurants with plans to open their doors over the next six months. The new shops run the gamut from Scented Organic Artisan Pure (S.O.A.P.) and popular chicken restaurant Nando’s Peri-Peri to new concept clothing stores by Rick Sarmiento, the founder of White House Black Market.  But they have one thing in common – they are independent boutiques celebrating their newest opening in the region.

“We are particularly pleased to partner with best-in-class entrepreneurs who are growing or expanding their businesses in the region,” said Marc Menick, vice president of leasing at The Peterson Companies, which owns and operates National Harbor. “These unique retailers will complement National Harbor’s unique environment and provide a truly exceptional product mix for our residents and visitors.”
The Peterson Companies is a family-owned entrepreneurial development company based in Northern Virginia. Peterson has strong ties to the local community; they have been building and developing properties throughout the area for about 40 years.
Added Menick, “Part of the success as a specialty retailer or restaurant is finding a developer and property manager willing to work with you. As a family-owned and local development company, The Peterson Companies embraces and supports entrepreneurs like our own company.”
