Las Vegas, NV May 23, 2011, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc., (NYSE: SKT) and The Peterson Companies announced today that they have entered into an agreement to form an exclusive joint venture for the development, management and leasing of Tanger Outlets at National Harbor.

The Peterson Cos., developers of National Harbor, have purchased a stake in the long-stalled town center project Rock Spring Centre in Bethesda, where they now plan to begin work with partner DRI Development Services later this year.

A casino at National Harbor would draw more visitors and generate millions more in tax revenue than a casino at Rosecroft Raceway, according to a study done on behalf of Prince George's County, home to both properties. A resort casino at National Harbor would likely be built on the "Plateau," a site adjacent to the Beltway.
