It weighs two tons, stands 18-feet tall and just traveled 2,418 miles to be in our backyard. Don't fret, it's just a massive lion. The MGM lion is now in place at MGM National Harbor, having been pieced together from three parts into one after its 35-hour drive on a flatbed truck from Las Vegas to Prince George's County.

The $1.4 billion MGM National Harbor will make its debut Thursday, Dec. 8, just minutes from Washington D.C. on the banks of the Potomac River. The resort is currently accepting room reservations for stays beginning December 10. Nightly room rates start at $399 and suite rates begin at $599.

Fast-casual Mediterranean-themed Mezeh Grill is scheduled to open early 2017. Mezeh is an assembly-line-style Mediterranean restaurant featuring fresh, bold flavored cuisine inspired by the Mediterranean coast. The 1,574-square-foot restaurant is located on National Plaza, between Potbelly's and Crabcake Cafe.

The international cuisine options in Gainesville continue to expand. New to Gainesville is Cava Grill in Virginia Gateway, offering up Greek and Mediterranean cooking. The new restaurant celebrated it's grand opening Sept. 30 with a free community lunch, which more than 100 people attended.
