The Peterson Cos., developers of National Harbor, have purchased a stake in the long-stalled town center project Rock Spring Centre in Bethesda, where they now plan to begin work with partner DRI Development Services later this year.

A casino at National Harbor would draw more visitors and generate millions more in tax revenue than a casino at Rosecroft Raceway, according to a study done on behalf of Prince George's County, home to both properties. A resort casino at National Harbor would likely be built on the "Plateau," a site adjacent to the Beltway.
